No, St. Paul’s church membership is not required. Families from all over the Kankakee and Bourbonnais areas have been attending St. Paul’s Lutheran School for more than 150 years.

We offer 3-year-old preschool 2, 3, and 5 days a week. 4-year-old preschool is available 3 and 5 days per week.  Full and half day sessions are available.

Kindergarten is offered on a full day basis only.

Yes, before school care begins at 6:00 a.m. and after school care ends at 6:00 p.m.

Although class sizes vary, we believe low student to teacher ratios allow us to best meet the individual needs of students. Therefore, the student to teacher ratio in a K-8 classroom is typically in the 17:1 to 22:1 range.

Yes, financial aid is available and is awarded according to need. A student must first be enrolled for the next school year before financial aid can be awarded. Additionally, families who are members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or other Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches receive a discounted tuition price. Families can also reduce their tuition costs by participating in the TRIP program where families earn tuition credits by purchasing gift cards that can be used in grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and a variety of other retail locations.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School is accredited by the National Lutheran School Association. In addition, all of our faculty members are state certified, ensuring your child is being educated by qualified teachers and administrators who both fulfill the legal requirements of the state of Illinois and are committed to Christ-centered education. We have received full recognition by the State of Illinois, which is the highest possible ranking for nonpublic schools in the state.

Classrooms are equipped with modern technological tools such as Promethean boards and document cameras. Students in 3rd-8th grade may bring their own laptop or device to class, or we will provide a laptop for their use during the school day, making a 1:1 ratio for computers in these grade levels. We also provide a class set of Ipads and Chromebooks in the lower grade levels, ensuring even our youngest learners are on the cutting edge of technology.
Yes, families of students enrolled in kindergarten through 8th grade are required to fulfill 20 partnership hours for one student. Preschool families must complete 10 hours. The maximum number of partnership hours required per family is 30. Partnership hours can be earned volunteering in your child’s classroom, helping at athletic events, supervising lunch periods, and in a variety of other ways.
We administer the MAP (Measuring Academic Progress) test in Kindergarten through 8th grade two times per year. The results are used to assist teachers in making instructional decisions.
Yes, all students in kindergarten through 8th grade attend chapel on Wednesday

St. Paul’s students participate in a variety of athletic, academic, and fine arts extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, cross country, basketball, volleyball, band, choirs, dramas, musicals, art fairs, spelling bees, geography bees, math competitions, science fairs, battle of the books, and a number of clubs.

Hot lunch is offered on a daily basis. Free- and reduced-price lunches are also available for families who qualify.
